How to use
This database allows for the data to be accessed in a variety of different ways. First, they can be accessed through the individual languages. The individual descriptions of the languages contain some background information on the classification and the data collection as well as the entire dataset. The data can either be viewed online or downloaded as a csv file for further use. Second, the data from all languages can be compared simultaneously through the individual questions that provide detailed maps as well as a list with the values and preferences. The individual values are linked to the actual data. Third, the search function allows to access the individual questions and allows to combine different questions into more complex datasets (e.g., to check for cross-linguistic correlations).
The questions are grouped into a total of 32 different features. These contain more extensive descriptions, the theoretical background, and indications on potential correlations with OV / VO word order. The languages are further grouped into six macro areas so that areal properties can be investigated.
