Master's Thesis

The Master's thesis is your own mid-scale research project. The thesis alone is worth 30 CP; your entire fourth semester is devoted to it. Together with your advisor, you define your research project; the end result is your Master’s thesis of roughly 60-100 pages.

Examples of past thesis projects:

  • Britta Grusdt: Probabilistic Modeling of Rational Communication with Conditionals
Research group Cognitive Modeling (Institute for Cognitive Science, University of Osnabrück) & research group Foundations of Computational Linguistics (Department Linguistics, University of Potsdam)
  • Manya Stazherova: Predicting Specific Language Impairment in Children from Eye-Tracking Data Using Machine Learning Techniques
Research group Machine Learning (Institute of Computer Science, University of Potsdam)
  • Rodrigo Lopez Portillo Alcocer: Visualization of expanded entity mentions in the UN Security Council debates
International Political Economy (Hertie School) & research group Applied Computational Linguistics (Department Linguistics, University of Potsdam)
  • Simon Undergasser: Evolving Recurrent Neural Networks for Active Vision
Neurorobotics Research Laboratory (Beuth University of Applied Sciences Berlin) & research group Knowledge Processing and Information Systems (Institute of Computer Science, University of Potsdam)
  • Vageesh Saxena: Understanding and Analyzing Model Robustness and Knowledge-Transfer in Multilingual Neural Machine Translation using TX-Ray
German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence & research group Foundations of Computational Linguistics (Department Linguistics, University of Potsdam)
