Foundations of Linguistics
This course covers the theoretical foundations of
- syntax and morphology: structure of words, phrase structure, syntactic dependencies, word order and syntactic relations
- semantics: foundations of Montague semantics, compositionality, scope
- pragmatics: conventional and conversational implicature, Gricean maxims
- phonetics and phonology: speech sounds, phonological representations and constraints
- psycholinguistics: theories of word and sentence processing, dialogue and discourse processing, language acquisition
