Research Interests

(for a complete list of papers and publications please visit my papers page)

  • Empirical Syntax
    • I investigated and am still investigating the empirical side of case conflicts German free relative constructions. Two papers are available thus far:
    • The syntax of German dialects is a rarely exploerd area of research. Together with Tanja Schmid, I did some research on the dialectal word order variation in 3-verb clusters in German. The work is summarised in this paper which has been published in the Journal of Comparative Germanic Linguistics.
  • The Syntax-Phonology Interface
    • The syntax of weak function words in Germanic, especially weak pronoun object shift (not only) in Scandinavian is dealt with in the paper "Weak Function Word Shift" which has been presented at GGS 2003 in Köln (June 2003) and WOTS 7 (September 2003) in Nijmegen. It is submitted to Linguistics for a special issue on OT syntax, mainly the proceedings of WOTS 7.
  • The Syntax-Semantics Interface
    • My Ph.D thesis deals with the theory of argument structure and thematic interpretation:
    • Polyvalent Verbs
    • The paper "Surface Matters. Case Conflict in Free Relative Constructions and OT" has appeared in a volume on case theory at CSLI, "New Perspectives on Case Theory", ed. by Ellen Brandner and Heike Zinsmeister, Stanford: CSLI publications, pp. 269-299.
    • The aforementioned study on German verb clusters deals with the syntax-semantics interaction, insofar as some ordering possibilities seem to be dependent on information structure.
  • Optimality Theory
  • A series of papers deals with the typology of Argument Free relative clauses:
